Breast Cancer Pink Ladies In Action

Hi All

Partly due to the reason that my favorite color is pink, that attracted me last year to join the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) as a volunteer. Pink is the color of being in good health. It signifies tenderness and manifests the higher qualities of love, and at the same time can bring fun, delight and surprises to your life.

Having worked there for more than a year and interacting with the ladies, I can never tell that they are survivors. Many a times I feel they are much more alive than some of the healthy friends I have come across. The laughter they generate at the center, the drive they possess in their daily tasks, the passion they show in their various activities, and all this their friendship and bonds being forged are the envy of many of us.

This weekend (29/9 - 1/10), for the very frist time, the International Pink Dragon Boat Council (IPDBC) is holding a Breast Cancer Dragon Boat World Championships competition at the Marina Bay, Singapore. Dragon boat teams from 10 countries will take to the water in events like the 200m and 500m distances for breast cancer survivors and their supporters, and a novelty race in which paddlers must wear pink.

Admission is free. For more info, go to www.bcf.org.sg, or if you are interested in signing up for the novelty race, you can call Grace Ong of BCF, Tel: 6352-6560 or email her at grace@bcf.org.sg

Have fun!

Candles & Passions

Dear Candlelovers

I am so excited to open my first scented candle online store. This site is wholly set up by myself! It may not be the prettiest webstore but it has the best soy wax candles you can find. I have specially sourced for a dropshipper whose passion is making soy wax candles....so when you make something with passion, you make the best.

You know, there is so much correlation between candles and our passion/our drive/our life force. For those who do yoga, you will find these terms very familiar:

In yoga, we have the life force called 'prana', which is similar to 'chi', which is reinvigorated with every breath we take. And lies within us there is this dormant force called 'sakti'. It is a huge untapped force, eg we want to quit smoking, lose weight, etc but we cannot persevere because we have not tapped our 'sakti'. Without it, there will only be false starts.

Sakti is like a candle. We must tap into that pillar of unlit wax by lighting a fire in order to activate (wick) our 'sakti' and have the motivation to follow through, to commit, to change. In yoga, we do this through asana, meditation, and chanting. In life, we must create a hot enough fire to arouse what is deep within ourselves to carry us to a higher effort. When our 'sakti' is aroused, it will rise and grab prana = our life force. When this happens, when the flame is burning brightly, we feel like nothing can stop us from achieving our goals in life. This is our 'sakti' fully engaged.

It is within all of us That pillar of unlit wax, waiting for us to bring the fire to ignite change!

Here's a wish of success to all of you to accomplish what you set out to do today!
